TOUR ASSESSMENT OF COMMUNITY-BASED TOURISM PRODUCT POTENTIAL IN CROCKER RANGE BIOSPHERE RESERVE AREA (1 March 2023)

01 March 2023, Kg. Natai, Inanam. A Community-Based Tourism Product Potential Assessment Tour was held to assess the potential of community tourism products that can attract the attention of tourists and the ability to thrive and improve the socio-economic of the community. The visit was led by Mrs. Fauziahton Ag. Samad, Director of the City Tourism Development Department and several officers from Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK). Also present were Sabah Agriculture Department, Sabah Forestry Department, Sabah Parks (Lorin Losod, Alverra Junin, Pius Kandaung, Ignatius Kunus), Community Wellbeing Department, DBKK, Kg. Kobuni community and ay Manager id Kalangadan. The potential of community-based tourism products is assessed through discussions and site visits with Mr. Terence, Tamaza ACV tourism manager. The potential community-based tourism products of Kg. Natai are Team Building Program Site, hiking/trail, Camping site and river (tagal). The results of the assessment of the potential of community-based tourism products will be discussed on 07 March 2023.

TOUR ASSESSMENT COMMUNITY-BASED TOURISM PRODUCT POTENTIAL ASSESSMENT TOUR IN CROCKER RANGE BIOSPHERE RESERVE AREA (7 March 2023)

07 March 2023, Kg. Bongkud, Inanam. A Community-Based Tourism Product Potential Assessment Tour was held to assess the potential of community tourism products that can attract the attention of tourists and the ability to thrive and improve the socio-economic community. In addition, to assess whether the potential of such travel products is suitable for all ages. The tour was led by Mrs. Fauziahton Ag. Samad, Director of the City Tourism Development Department and several officers from Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK). Also present were the Sabah Forestry Department, Sabah Parks (Lorin Losod, Nelly Majuakim, Alverra Junin, Alfred Marinus, Danescent Augustine), Department of Community Wellbeing, DBKK, Kg. Kobuni community and Kg. Bongkud community. The potential of community-based tourism products is assessed through briefings and site visits with Mr. Rudolf Bin Tambas, Chairman of Kg. Bongkud. The potential community-based tourism products of Kg. Bongkud are Bongkud Waterfall, hiking/trail and Camping site. SURVEY AND INSPECTION IN THE FIELD WAS CARRIED OUT UNDER THE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN THE CROCKER BIOSPHERE RESERVE AREA OF KOTA KINABALU DISTRICT (27 Mac 2023)

27 March 2023, Kampung Natai, Telipok, Kota Kinabalu. A survey and inspection in the field was carried out under the tourism development programme in the crocker biosphere reserve area of Kota Kinabalu district. This activity is aimed to examining the area that proposed by the community as an eco-tourism product under the Crocker Range Biosphere Reserve program. A total of 5 communities led by Mr. Terence, Chairman of the biosphere community Kg. Natai, Telipok and 6 staff of Sabah Parks led by Mr. Martin Moguring was involved in this inspection. As a result of the inspection, the community has proposed two products named as the Biosphere Park and the Hiking trail about 9km away located within the Kg. Natai forest reserve with an area of approximately 300 acres. The area has attractions such as waterfalls, the unique attraction of rocks, the diversity of herbal plants and the terrain of the earth suitable for hiking activities.
